Do you have any tips on stopping aggressive behaviour towards other dogs cuz I can't go near other dogs without her trying to get to it last time she got to another dog her growled but she's only aggressive with some dogs and some are fine but I looked up if medical issues can cause aggression and it said some can and she has seizures and idk if that could be a cause
Thanks for the 10 minute video. My Belgian Malinois literally dragged me because she saw two little dogs. Got home. Watched this video. Went outside to train her at midnight. And guess who walks like a princess now thank you so much for the help!!!!
Thank you for this!! Our dog is a 1 y/o 50lb goldendoodle. His pulling kills my hands and makes taking him on walks really unenjoyable, but I suppose thatโs my fault for waiting so long to leash train him. Well I started with just corrective u-turns and within 20 minutes I saw an amazing difference. I had to use peanut butter on a spoon since he isnโt food or treat motivated while outside, but it worked like a charm and he was loose leash the rest of the walk!
I adopted a dog a few months ago. He recently started turning around on me, lunging, and biting my arms. This tends to happen when no one else is around and weโre approaching my home, even a block or two away. Yesterday there was a gardener present, so I was spared that time. I found the most effective way to stop the biting as it is happening is to put my hand in his mouth, basically holding it open. Iโm worried he will hurt me more or start hurting someone else, or even simply alienate neighbors that may catch a glimpse of him attacking me. I mention this because I would like to try this technique, but I donโt want to exacerbate his behavior. I did test his genetics, and learned heโs Doberman and French Bull Dog, unlike the Labrador/Doberman mix that was estimated by the shelter. I will see the dog trainer tomorrow. Would you normally recommend the technique in this video on a dog that is biting?
I have a 7+ years old dog who does this, but she has arthritis and is generally uncomfortable a lot of the time. Is there a way to do this more gently?
I have a dachshund thatโs 1 year old. And he pulls everytime he sees a cat or another dog. I use a harness instead of the leash on his collar. Should I change to leash on collar ? If so does it matter what collar ?
Tried this with just number 3 pops and a regular harness on my young JRT and it has worked a treat. Now walks loose lead after 2 ร 15 min sessions. Thank you so much.
My dog pulls a ton on a collar but not on a harness and it's annoying to have to put on a harness everytime to take her on a walk. Ordered a prong collar and hope this works.
I tried the U turn that you recommended but when I pull the leash my dog takes off running to the front on me and she does it all the time and still walks on front of me, I tried many many times and stills no progress on this
The second technique is working so well with my Jack Russell. I think she may have known it before. Weโre literally on our third day of looseleaf walking. Iโm using a harness with the lead on the back.
I love this video! If you have multiple (2) dogs do you recommend walking them separately to do this? One is 10 & the other, who is the full blown puller, is 2 years old.
AMAZING! I have struggled to leash train my 15 month old Golden Doodle since we adopted him and within minutes, his walking on the leash was remarkable. You can trust American Standard Dog Training ๐
Just tried this with 2 90-110lb dogs that pull while walking and it worked on both. Looking forward to more walks with them now instead of battling the whole time, thanks.
Did this with my husky after just one session of 15 minutes went from pulling like a train to loose lead walking great tutorial video, now i just need to stop her getting over excited at front door when going for a walk lol
Thank you Garett! I'm currently taking care of my parents dog, he's about 2 years old a good dog, but he has this tendancy to pull pretty much exacyly like you talk about and show with Thanos. I did step for step like you did and had the same effect, i had him out for one walk and at the end he was walking beside me with a loose leash! I can't describe how liberating it is to be able to walk the dog, and not let him walk me.
I literally started this video at the beginning of my walk with my 2 year old mini schnauzer and WOW!! It took 3 of these and he stopped pulling! Never in the history of our many walks! Thank you!!!
1800peta hahahahah ๐ Thank you so much. I just took my 5 year old girl and my new 1 year old boy for a walk together. It sucked. Thatโs why Iโm here. Gonna try this. Thank you
I have always had large breed dogs, (Great Danes) therefore having them pay attention to me was always required. I want people to be able to enjoy them when we are out. I just lost my last one this past week to bone cancer ๐. Thank goodness I recently adopted a female Golden Retriever/Lab mix. She is 1.5 old and super-sensitive. All I have to do is speak sharply to her (my GDs would just have gone โOh, pay attentionโฆno harm no foul) and she looks like I just hit her with a stick. I have adjusted my tone. She is very food motivated and crazy on a leash so your method should work beautifully for her. Thank you so much.

Does this work on a shizu? Who's 6. And has always taken me on walks?
9:39 I once saw someone juggle the ingredients of a ham and cheese sandwich into a fully formed sandwich
What age can you start this training?
My dog walks me. Sheโs horrible. And get an attitude when I try to stop
Hi does this only work with a prong collar? Could a slip lead work?.
Is there a way to modify this technique for smaller dogs? I canโt be yanking my pug like this ๐

I LOVE your approach to dog training!! โค
You are so good at explaining things.

Its always about the treats…
I guess I just need the prong collar because without it, didn't work for me!

Can this work with a normal collar?
Does the "pop" work if the dog is wearing a harness?

Do you need a prong collar for this to work?
handsome dog
Will this work with a harness or do I need a collar on the neck?
This is a little sad but he listened ๐ข
How much is it for you to train my dog I really need help Iโm trying everything
My pit beagle mix instantly picked up after this๐
I don't like that
Dead spot on! Thank you
so good

People complaining about harsh corrections…how harsh is giving up your dog because you couldn't get it to listen?
Going to try with my collie later on and will record it

Should I let him smell stuff behind me
What do I do for an anxious dog who isnโt food motivated? I canโt get my pup to listen when crowds of people are around

Do you have to use a pinch collar for this to be effective?

Iโm about to adopt a dog and Iโm trying to learn as much as I can to be ready for him. New follower here โ๏ธ๐๐
