  3. I have owned 2 a male and a female, absolutely fantastic pets. The male would be aggressive to large male dogs, small dogs were OK. He was aggressive to any wild animal and thought it was his job to kill them. They both were great around people and good with cats. I often realized that they actually had a sense of humor.

  18. I have a friend whos let me watch their Shiba twice now. He's such an energetic jerk that demands a long walk, and at least 2 hours of playtime after. After a short break, hes ready to play a lot more. I love him, and he's really good about telling you what he wants by pointing at it with his nose. His water is inside of a waterproof playpen since he likes to paw at his water and make a mess, so he will stop what he's doing, look at you, then look at the water. He lets me pick him up to put him in the playpen to drink or eat. He's really well house trained for a puppy too. Though they have sensitive stomachs, and they turn into shitting machines if you upset their diet. I fed him too many bacon treats, and had to deal with the magma he made in his kennel in the morning.

    Dramatic little baby too, and knows a decent number of tricks. He learned to stand in front of me when im about to kick one of his toys. He loves to drop stuff by my feet so i can kick it and he'll chase it.

  21. I love my Shiba, Jynx. Every time we take her to a store, someone comes up and shows us the doge coin and say they never saw one in real life. She does growl at our 110lb Akita if he tries to take her bone but the bond they have is astounding. She also love our kitties.

  28. A ahiba inu from a good breeder is a great dog with a long life. I fell in love when I had a mix that was part shiba. Now we have a pure bred shiba. Sadly our pure bred shiba is… problematic. He has aggression issues with most other dogs due to his previous owner (a family member) allowing their poodle to frequently attack him. So here's a friendly reminder, shibas are a spitz breed. Spitz breeds are very smart and hard working. And they do not forget transgressions. You have to make sure they have continuing good interactions with other dogs so that any negative interactions don't ruin your dog. And yes. Mine is ruined sadly. And that's OK. I still love him, I just have to be careful to ensure he stays safe from himself. All in all they are like highly intelligent marshmallows. Oh! And PLEASE BRUSH THEM FREQUENTLY. That's undercoat will be a problem if you don't. And they blow their coat. It's a mess.

  31. Shibas are huskies – They rarely make good pets – Unless you are prepared to deal with their quirks. Most people want them because they are cute (so are Siberians – don't even go there!) which is a lousy reason to choose a dog – or a horse.

  33. Mine passed away on 16/09/24 at the age of 13 years old (he was ill). He was the best pet I could ever dream of. He was as stubborn as could be, and he wasn't a big fan of cuddles, but I loved that dog more than anything else.

After having had cats, in 2000 we got Princess, she truly was a faithful loving friend that passed away at almost 18y of age, we have Rambo now who had been abused his 1 year, it took many months for him to trust us, he is 7 now still has some issues trusting people, but with us I know he will give his life if we were threaten,.Shiba Inus are very healthy, mine only went to the vet for vaccinations, loyal, playful, happy, mischievous, their intelligence make them to be independent and not as obedient as one may like, but to me they are 100% worth to have them.

The day of judgment is decisive and displays to all the seal of truth.   43. I've had KD since she was about 6 months old. She is 9 yo now, my closest friend and companion. She did very well with multiple changes in her early life…we moved twice, other dogs, just not settled. BUT she cane through. Once settled in our always home she learned quickly where she belonged, where I was, where security was. I love her with all my heart. Highly recommend this breed as a loving, loyal pet😊
