Wild that ive been doing this instinctively the whole time! I have a 2 year old rottie, shes extremely smart obedient and loving, trained her myself with almost no experience.. but i must say.. she is the perfect dog ๐
lol my dog plants my flag for me ๐, itโs like we naturally did this .. heโs a Doberman though. He naturally goes between the legs after recall on protect. I will keep watching
Sir, your videos are awesome I have only just come across them. My 2yr old boy is a nightmare so I'm praying they work or I don't know where else to go with it
I also use that technique when im lead walking my dog Stanley who is a 4year old corsoX๐บ๐ธbulldog, strong as an ox and allways tries his hardest to be the one doing the leading, and it's nearly always the case when going from A 2 B but rarely happens from B 2 A,and that's because he's a dog tired happy boy that just wants to plod back home for breakfast. The technique is a good one to use for Stanley until he realises just who the true leader is and gets back in step. The only negative thing is I tend to walk like a man with a gammy leg who's just left the pub after happy hour with his unhappy and V stubborn dog leading the way lol.๐ถ๐๐โ
This honestly is the most simple, bite sized lesson but with the most impact. One of my problems with my excitable Patterdale was that when we walk in the woods, and navigating slippery, root ridden paths, having autism, I have poor balance. My dog would walk and pull in front, which has caused me to slip a few times. Now, before we get to a point where this is necessary, i do this, say 'Wait' in a deep, calm voice and she now does this automatically, every time we hit a style, a narrow footpath, gate etc
I wish these dog trainers would use dogs that are 5 -15 pounds! They all show tips and tricks for correcting behavior on dogs that are thigh height which always looks so helpful but trying the same corrections on an ankle height dog is nearly impossible!
I had to take my adult sons dog. He got her and became ver ill with Crohn's disease and I didn't want her to go to shelter. Shes only 1 yr old and high energy. Ive been learning so much from you which makes me able to have her and saves her from shelter maybe her life. Thank you good sir! ๐๐๐โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ
The flag thing seems clever and well aimed but i also think it needs from the "leader" to embody this whole leader attitude and make it a habit to go like this. This level of training needs some good amount of focus. But after some time it is easier i think, for it is then just mechanical.

Will barely show his eyes, cuz for some it is the eye contact they want to avoid.

Ah No.
Thank you so much for all of your advices. A lot of them have been working amazingly on my golden Shepard puppy!

Only just found your videos but they are amazingly straight forward and to the point. Going to be getting a fox red lab in couple of months
Can this same thing be done with a chihuahua? I know the question is funny but Iโm serious

Is there a method for doing this while walking two dogs?
Interesting
That accent is fake. I know this guy and he repairs tractors in Des Moines.
Thanks a lot for these infos and ideas man! I think they will be useful and positive
